If any of you know Doodbug McCord (as she calls herself) you know that "I'm back!" is what she says when she comes back from time-out or from any other place. And as you've probably noticed, I've been on a blogging break for a while. Well, I'm back. William, I'm truly sorry that it had to be your first 7 months of life. I must admit that I've had more fun playing with you on the floor than typing with one hand. Hopefully, the pictures said enough.
To kick off my return I've decided to join the blogging world in a carousel... Kelly, down at Kelly's Korner Blog does a "Show Us Your Life Friday" and I'm in. Guess what this week is???? Favorite books!!! I love books. I love reading books to myself (as my 3rd graders would say) and reading them aloud. My favorite thing about teaching was reading aloud to my students. Now I get to read to my own children. Here are some of my all-time and new (to me) favorites. I'd have to say that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was THE BEST book I've ever read aloud. It was delightful and intriguing (even after seeing the movies.) The second best read-aloud book was BFG. Riley Jane loves all books. So do I. Even Dora books. If a Dora book encourages children to read...bring on the Dora books. Btw, Dora taught Riley Jane Doodlebug how to say open in Spanish and what a triangle looks like. If you'd like to know more about Children books and reading to your children, check out The Read-Aloud Handbook by Jim Trelease. It's interesting and enlightening.
You know I LOVE books, too. All things book - children's, Christian fiction, whatever. I'm so glad that Riley likes books and I'm sure William will want to hear them soon, too. Good to read your blog!
